Beth, Winston, and Natalie are roommates and bandmates in smalltown, Ohio. Little has changed since their band formed in college: Beth is excellent, Natalie works hard, and Winston… exists. The three musicians want to make music. They want to make good music. They might even want to make great music. They know they will fail. They try anyway.
When Beth visits a friend in New York, she encounters a life-changing opportunity, straining the characters’ relationships to music and each other, and forcing a reckoning: why do we make the art we make, and how much must we suffer on its behalf?
BIOGRAPHY is about Midwestern ennui; about progress as a concept and as an experience; and about the intoxicating boundary between friendship and love.
