PHOEBE & GEORGIA ZILDJIAN

Phoebe Zildjian was born and raised in Castine, ME and holds a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Maine College of Art & Design. Zildjian spends her life on the coast, working to reflect the solitary lifestyles of Maine people. Her practice hinges on using landscape as a primary source; returning again and again to inspect familiar details of her surroundings. Her work looks to the land, and she can often be found monitoring the world around her, inspecting details such as stones, salt bleached structures, and the ebb and flow of the tide in an effort to uplift the landscape as a historical document and spiritual space.

Georgia Williamina Zildjian is a theatre-maker, educator, and ocean swimmer living and working in Downeast Maine. She is the founder and director of Castine Arts Association's Youth Summer Theatre program, and the co-founder and playwright in residence for Tandem Theatre Co. Recent credits include THE BRIDE (playwright/actor, Tandem), KILL THAT MAN, COME BACK ALONE (playwright/actor, Tandem), BOUND (playwright, Dir. Jasmine Ireland), and numerous children's plays! She is currently directing and producing the original children’s play SHUM DAVAR by Kelly Cutler. Many thanks to her partner in crime, Phoebe; her partner in life, Brandon; Bill Zildjian & Deborah Corey; Brandie Cardenas; Jasmine Ireland; New Surry Theatre; and, as always, Hallee & Rhubarb. Original art for the paper props in this show were made by Brandon G. Ouellette.
